Weekly Update for September 6-10, 2010
Hello, this is Allen Ellzey, Principal of Salem Middle School, with your weekly update.
We are well into the month of September and are approaching our much-anticipated Labor Day weekend where we can all “catch our breath”. Just to remind you, there is no school on Monday, September 6 th. We hope you and your family have a wonderful long weekend. We now have available at our Front Desk pocket-size year round calendars. If you would like one you can pick one up there or have your student pick one up for you. They are handy to keep close by as you plan your events for the year. On Friday, Sept 10 th we will host our first dance of the year, for 6 th graders only, from 6:00-8:00 pm. Students must have a signed permission form which you can download off our webpage or pick up at the Front Desk. We will be selling pizza and other food and drink items at the concession stand. Also, that evening we have an information session in our auditorium from 6:30-7:45 on Internet Safety, something we are all concerned about. Brandon Madden from the Attorney General’s Office will conduct this session and it is open to all parents. Our PTA fundraiser is doing great with our first Track 3/4 collection day this past Wednesday and our final collection day next Wednesday, Sept. 8 th….thanks for all of your help with this. If our final collection day is as good as our first one, we will reach our goal and be able to fund our budget for the year. Also, please remember to join our PTA if you have not done so, our memberships our lagging behind compared to past years….just download the form from the PTA website and complete before October 15 th. We will have make –up pictures taken on Friday Sept 10 th for Tracks 1 and 4. Report Cards for Track 1 will also go home that day as it is a much-anticipated track out day for Track 1 students and staff!! Again, have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!!
