Weekly Update for Sept. 18 - 27, 2013
Hello, this is Allen Ellzey, Principal of Salem Middle School with your weekly update.
Well, we are moving into the Fall season of the year which means we are approaching the end of the 1st quarter of the academic year. Our Fall sports season is upon us as well. September 27th marks the end of the quarter for Tracks 2, 3, and 4 as report cards will be coming home with students. It is also an Early Release Day with a 12:30 pm dismissal and a track out day for Track 4 students. We hope Track 4 students and families have a great track out. Track 1 students will return on Monday, September 30th!
We open the football season today (Wednesday, Sept. 18) at home as we host Lufkin Road and then tomorrow, Thursday, September 19th, our volleyball and soccer teams travel to Lufkin Road to open their season. Come out and support our student-athletes and show your Spartan Pride. Next week our football team travels to Apex Middle on Wednesday, September 25th and volleyball and soccer open their home season with Apex on Thursday, September 26th. Admission is $4.00 for all events and game time is 4:00 pm.
Congratulations to Sydney McCoy from 7/3 on her great showing in the “Kids Cook-Off” on the Food Network! She represented Salem Middle in a first-class manner and made us all so proud of her!
Starting Monday, September 23rd our website will debut its new look. We think you will love our new look and hope you will check it out and let us know what you think! It is much more user-friendly and has a much cleaner look with updated photos on the homepage of current happenings here at Salem Middle. Thanks to Mr Caggia, our Media Specialist, and Ms. Thomson, our webmaster, for all of their efforts with this!
Friday, Sept 20th is the last day of Mr. Dan Burch (our 6th grade administrator) here at Salem Middle as he is retiring. We thank him for his dedicated years of service to the Spartan family and wish him the very best. For 6th grade parents, Ms Heidi Bledsoe(firstname.lastname@example.org) will be working with our 6th grade families, students, and staff and I will be supporting her as well. Mr. Steve Rhodes(email@example.com), our 8th grade administrator, will be handling buses in the morning.
Thank you for your attention and continued support of Salem Middle School.
